Sasquatch hand
Mr. P. Coleman was never the same after that encounter in the fall of 1921. It was however the starting-point for his rather eccentric folk art. Most of which have been lost or forgotten over the last century. But one piece remains, that first trophy brought back from the depths of the Oregon forests. The Sasquatch hand.
This was a very enjoyable commission, I adapted an idea I had for a Swedish troll hand and used American folk art instead to tell this little story of a Bigfoot encounter.

I love the texture. That's why I like to work with paper - I reckon for skin textures you just can't beat it.

Well I've studied propmaking for two years as well as furniture carpeting, done some modelmaking and a bit of drawing/painting. But when it comes to pieces like this It's mostly learning by doing, and looking at real stuff. Good reference is half the thing.
This is great! Had I seen this before I wrote my last book, I would've included it in there somehow because it would be perfect. You are quite skilled!

DeleteIn meditation a few weeks back, I found myself in a cave with a couple Bigfoot....and I saw his thumb up close, his nail was this color, deep brown color. Though, the shape of the nail was like the shape of a shovel and it was flat. It seemed like he had like a notch or extra nail growth in the middle tip of the thumb nail. I didn't see any other nail, his hand was covered in very thick hair. Tonight, I got inspired to search for pictures to see if it matches my vision and I saw the nail you made here. So cool!
